Duane Edward and Phyllis Ann Erickson Memorial Scholarship

Duane Edward Erickson earned his undergraduate degree from North Dakota State University and his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. His teaching career at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the College of Agriculture spanned over 30 years. Phyllis Ann Erickson also earned her undergraduate degree from North Dakota State University and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois. Her career was spent in teaching over 30 years in elementary schools in the Urbana School District. Marilyn E. Tears, daughter of Duane and Phyllis Erickson, is a graduate of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (BS 80, MS 82) she has had a long distinguished career at Exxon Mobil and established this scholarship in honor of her parents.

Scholarships shall be provided to undergraduate students who are enrolled in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois.  Preference will be for students who earn and maintain a 3.0 GPA out of a 4.0 scale. Other factors that may be considered are the amount of teamwork exhibited, someone who participates and supports the department and campus and is active in the community as a volunteer.

The award is divided into two equal payments: one during the Fall semester, and one during the Spring semester.
